‘Season’ing

Thin sheets of crisp snow drape the roads and roofs alike… With dark cold nights seeping into almost impartially shady dawns; it seems as though the Sun himself is reluctant to leave his cushion in the clouds! Soft rays gleam across, shattering the long spell of harsh cold… In through windows and onto our faces… to rouse us from the deep slumber in our warm cozy beds (which we would have never left otherwise:))

True, it isn’t particularly comfortable to have chills down your spine unless you are a daffodil to whistle away the cold!;)

As the time ticks on, heat steadily kindles from the biting frost. Flowers sway their heads in tune of the wind while the leaves lazily swish to the silent breeze. Birds resume their endless jaunts as the bees get busy buzzing around. Each creature has its way to welcome the warmth… not to forget the ants that trickle back in queues along the join of walls. Nature would be in its full swing and at its best. Every where’s full of life, rejuvenated and fresh!

With passage of days, the warm front slowly intensifies into scorching heat. The previously jingling leaves now rustle away. But of course, This blistering season isn’t worth waiting for if not for the most luscious fruit of the year — The Mangoes! A little garnish of salt and pepper over raw mangoes is as mouthwatering as the big juicy ones! From drenched clothes to endless showers, the season of rain cannot compete in getting us more wet! It appears as though the beads of sweat evaporate even before falling off our brow.. Be what may; but to have a bay for some “cool refreshments” is a blessing per se!

The heat waves slowly simmer down. Flowers droop off and leaves wither away. Everything appears solemn and calm. Nature seems to have come to a standstill. Its as though it takes time to prepare itself for its oncoming changes. To turn itself around. To reinstate itself…

“Times change, Months pass; But every season… relights new sparks!”
